Loung Ung Discussion and Lecture

Author and activist Loung Ung will be coming to the Keene State College campus on Tuesday, September. 7, 2010. Ung, a noted speaker, landmine activist, and writer, has written two memoirs about her and her family’s experiences during the Khmer Rouge regime, First They Killed My Father and Lucky Child. She will be holding an informal discussion/question & answer session from 2:00-3:00 on Tuesday, September 7 for students in the Mountain View Room, as well as a public lecture and book signing at 7:00 that evening in the Mable Brown Room. Her evening lecture is entitled, “First They Killed My Father” and is about her experiences as a young girl in the midst of genocide. Etz Hayim Book Club

Our  next book is The World to Come  by Dara Horn.  A million-dollar painting by Marc Chagall is stolen from a museum during a singles' cocktail hour.  The unlikely thief is Benjamin Ziskind, a lonely former child prodigy who writes questions for quiz shows and who is sure the painting used to hang on a wall of his parents' living room.  So begins the story by prize-winning author Dara Horn who interweaves mystery, romance, folklore, theology, history, and scripture into a spellbinding modern tale.

Temple Adath Yeshurun and PJ Library Event - Rosh HaShana Book Reading and Magic Show

12 to 2 PM at Temple Adath Yeshurun, Manchester, FREE. Jill Weber, illustrator of Even Higher, a Rosh HaShana story, will read her book and provide interactive activities.  Jill’s books will be available for signing following her program.  Corky the Magician will then take the stage with a fun-filled magic show.  Beverages and a nosh will be provided.  So come enjoy an action-packed afternoon socializing with friends and families.
