BHC Cultural Series at The Colonial, 3 PM

The September Cultural Series @ The Colonial - Bethlehem Hebrew Congregation (BHC), North Country Chamber Players and the Bethlehem Colonial Theatre have teamed up to present “Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind,” a contemporary work composed by Osvaldo Golijov. The program will be introduced by Professor Edwin Seroussi, Director of the Jewish Research Music Centre, Hebrew University, Jerusalem. Golijov’s studies of Isaac the Blind, the great kabbalist rabbi of Provence eight centuries ago was the inspiration for this unique composition. Immediately following the performance, BHC will host a reception at the Colonial Theatre with light refreshments and the opportunity to discuss the musical composition with Professor Seroussi. Terra, Bethlehem’s newest restaurant, will join the celebration of this musical event by offering their guests a 10% dinner discount ! Sunday evening, September 11. Discount will be applied upon presentation of “Dreams and Prayers” concert tickets. Tickets are $30 each for reserved front and center seats; $20 for general admission, and $15 for general admission for Colonial Theatre members. Tickets may be purchased at the Colonial Theatre box office, on the Colonial website – www.bethlehemcolonial.org, and at the Village Book Store in Littleton. Commemorating the Tenth Anniversary of the Attacks of September 11, 2001

This Shabbat during services we will remember the victims of the September 11 attacks and those who have died in the wars that have followed. In his Dvar Torah, Rabbi Jon will offer some reflections on our country, the world, and the Jewish people since 9/11. On Sunday, Temple Beth Abraham joins the wider community in an interfaith remembrance at the Reflection Garden and Labyrinth at Rotary Common, the park at 315 Main Street in Nashua. People are invited to walk the labyrinth in reflection throughout the day; there will be gatherings at 2:00 PM and also at 7:00 PM with candlelight. There will be written material with reflections from many faiths, and the opportunity to talk with other people gathered, but no formal speeches.
