Israel Experience Grant - 2010

Brett Hausler

Dear Teens and Parents:

The Israel Experience is an exciting teen initiative of the Jewish Federation of New Hampshire. It is based on the guiding principle that continuing Jewish education linked with a peer trip to Israel will forge a strong Jewish identity in the hearts and minds of youth.

The Jewish Federation of New Hampshire strongly believes that a young adult peer travel experience to Israel is a fundamental educational opportunity in American Jewish communal life.

What You Need to Know:

  • $1000 is available to any NH Jewish teen entering 11th or 12th grade for a peer trip to Israel that is a minimum of 3 weeks. The grant is not based on financial need.
  • This amount is increased to $1800 for students who have continued with Hebrew High School through 10th grade or have completed their own synagogue’s high school program.
  • Teen must reside in NH or family must belong to a NH Jewish congregation.
  • Families must participate in the current JFNH annual CJA campaign at a minimum level of $100.
  • Teens are required to participate in a three-session “Israel Study” program with Shlomit Bar-Levav on March 7, 21, and 28, 2010. If a teen cannot attend all three sessions, then the grant may be pro-rated.
  • Teens are requested to attend the JFNH Yom Ha'Atzmaut celebration on May 2, 2010 and the JFNH Annual Meeting on June 6, 2010.
  • Teens need to submit an article for the NH Jewish Reporter upon their return.
  • A statement of cost of trip from the trip provider must be submitted to the JFNH.
  • This application is for all trips between June 2010 and May 2011. It must be submitted by February 15, 2010. Late applications will be considered only if money is available. So apply now if you are just thinking about going on a peer trip to Israel before Spring 2011!
