Temple B’nai Israel of Laconia, in collaboration with the Congregational Church of Laconia, UCC, the Unitarian Universalist Society of Laconia, and the Laconia Human Relations Committee, will host a moving Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) community program on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 5:30 PM at the Congregational Church of Laconia, UCC, located at 18 Veteran's Square, Laconia.

The community is invited to come together and remember the victims of racially motivated violence.  This year’s program will feature a powerful dramatic reading of the one-act play “Anne & Emmett” written by Janet Langhart Cohen.  This imagined conversation between Anne Frank, a young Jewish victim of the Holocaust, and Emmett Till, a young African American victim of racial violence, explores their shared experiences of hatred and the tragic impact it had on their lives. This program seeks to share these powerful stories, ensuring that the lessons of the past are not forgotten and that we continue to strive for a more just and compassionate future.  Connecting the stories of Anne Frank and Emmett Till reinforces the importance of combating hatred and promoting tolerance.
