Many grandparents seek purposeful experiences with their grandchildren that will benefit others. Hands-on volunteer activities, especially around Thanksgiving, are a way to put Jewish values into practice — for you and your grandchild.
In this session, led by Repair the World, we'll explore why it is so powerful for young people to see the adults in their lives put their values into action, and how volunteering side by side can deepen your relationship while strengthening your shared commitment to making the world better and more just.
We will focus on acts of service you and your grandchild can do around Thanksgiving, a focused time of food insecurity when food costs rise and holiday expectations add pressure to families.
You will receive a step-by-step guide that includes:
- How to identify a project, location, or action that meets real needs in your own community
- Ways to weave learning into your experience through conversations about:
-
- Jewish values that help us understand why we serve
- Food access and food insecurity in your community, and building empathy and deeper understanding
- Reflecting on what you learned together and how to continue making a difference beyond Thanksgiving
We will follow up with you after Thanksgiving to learn how your project went.
In the session, we'll have time for conversation so grandparents can learn from one another and leave inspired to put these ideas into action. Register Here
