PART-TIME BUILDING CARETAKER/CUSTODIAN
$20–$24/hour • Approximately 15 hours/week
Friday evenings REQUIRED • Sunday availability • Flexible weekday hours
Temple Adath Yeshurun is looking for a dependable, hands-on person to help keep our building and grounds clean, safe, welcoming, and well-maintained.
This position may be a great fit for a semi-retired person or someone looking for a flexible, non-traditional part-time schedule.
The Schedule: Friday evening availability is required.
• Every Friday, 3:00–9:00 p.m. – Shabbat service support and building preparation
• 3 Sundays/month during the school year – approximately 2 hours each
• Approximately 6 flexible weekday hours/week, generally over two weekdays
• Weekly Temple staff meeting during weekday hours
• Occasional Saturdays and additional hours for special events, holidays, and High Holy Days
• Occasional building emergencies or urgent needs
What You'll Do
• Clean and maintain Temple offices, classrooms, sanctuary, kitchen, bathrooms, and common areas
• Handle basic building maintenance and minor repairs
• Maintain grounds, including seasonal landscaping and snow/ice removal
• Set up and clean up rooms for services, school, meetings, and events
• Support Shabbat, holidays, lifecycle events, and other Temple programs
• Work with Temple staff, volunteers, congregants, and contractors
What We're Looking For
• Experience in custodial, facilities, maintenance, building operations, or similar work preferred
• Basic handyman/maintenance skills
• Dependable, organized, and comfortable working independently
• Friendly and comfortable working around people of all ages
• Able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work indoors and outdoors year-round
• Background check required
Compensation
$20–$24/hour, depending on experience
Approximately 15 hours/week | Paid vacation provided
