It is that time of the year again, as winter turns to (an early?) spring, that the TBJ Purimshpielers prepare once again to lift the spirits of the community with our rendering of the story of Queen Esther in musical comedy form. This year is the 26th year of the Temple Beth Jacob show and we are proud to present another original script, "The Megillah According To Queen: We Will Rock You!", a raucous and rowdy retelling of the Purim story loosely following the music and activities of Freddy Mercury and the groundbreaking British rockers of the 1990s. More than 40 members of the cast, orchestra, and crew are ready to take you on a unique biblical ride! You just gotta see it!
This yearly theatrical activity has become a part of the quirky underground fun of the Concord community. Reserved seat tickets are now available for the Saturday March 18 (8PM) and Sunday March 19 (7:30PM) performances. There is an open bar before and after the show (Jewish tradition suggests that imbibing is a mitzvah - a good deed - on the holiday of Purim!). The TBJ Purimshpiel answers "to a higher calling", and audience masking will be required when not eating or drinking. The cast (unmasked, and ooh the costumes!) will all test for COVID prior to the performance.
If you prefer to watch the show from the comfort of your own home, there will be a ticketed simulcast of the Saturday March 18 8PM production available. Of course, it won't have the ruach (spirit) of the live event, but the cast will feel and appreciate your support. The link will be available on the Temple Beth Jacob website in early March.
Tickets for the live performances cost $20.00/$15.00 and are available from the Temple Beth Jacob office 603-228-8581
