Noreen Leibson, Director of Education and Family Engagement, Temple Beth Abraham will talk on how our ancient family stories are riddled with tales of true love, lust, seduction and adultery. Given that the Torah is laconic, so much is left to our imagination, and often the women’s voice is left out altogether. Thankfully she will point out the Judaism has a rich resource in Biblical midrash, interpretations of the text that offer readers a wider vista within which to understand and learn from the narratives. Come ready to listen and talk as she explores new portals for gleaning wisdom from our past. She will focus on the story of Dinah and Shechem. This is a mature topic and discussion. Please, read Genesis 34 in preparation for this talk and discussion.
