FBI Special Agent Mark Hastbacka will outline the steps he took and the difficulties he encountered culminating in the arrest of Dana Lawrence. Lawrence utilized at least 15 aliases and was accused of dozens of scams across 16 states swindling hundreds of thousands of dollars from multiple victims over a 20+ year period. In 2016 Lawrence came to Nashua and used connections she made as a volunteer at the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter to get volunteer work as a grant writer at Nashua City Hall. That was when a member of the Mayor’s staff became suspicious and contacted the FBI. During his 25 years with the FBI Mark has worked on cases including the Florida connections (14 of the 19 hijackers) involved in the 9/11 attacks, IRA gun smuggling operations, violent crime in Miami (bank robberies and kidnappings) as well as international and domestic terrorism for the past 22 years.
