Please join Temple Israel Portsmouth for a special Yom Hashoah observance.

Guest speaker Dr. Louis Levine offers a perspective on the Shoah that is rarely addressed. It focuses on the relatively small group of Americans who initially encountered the special hell of the Nazi camps in the last weeks of the war in Europe – what they saw, how they reacted, how they processed it.

Dr. Levine draws primarily on interviews with GIs recorded for the award-winning exhibition "Ours To Fight For: American Jews in the Second World War" which he produced at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City, and which went on to travel to Baltimore, New Orleans and Skokie, Illinois.

This program will take place in the sanctuary and will also be available via Zoom, using the regular link for services. Register via the temple website calendar to help us plan for refreshments or to receive the Zoom link.
